A wonderful lady from Charleston bought Buddy this week. We shed some tears to see him go, but know that he will have a good home.
Thanks for visiting this site. He's still fun to look at, so enjoy!

Meet Ohio Rocks, also known as Buddy. He's an appendix registered QH/TB-cross chestnut gelding, born in 1998. He's approximately 15.3 and has super bloodlines, as you can see if you click on his pedigree.
He was Western Pleasure when we got him a little over three years ago. My daughter, who is now 14, rides him English and uses him for eventing, Pony Club, hunter shows, trail riding, hunter paces and cub fox hunting. Plus riding him double bareback with her friends in our pasture. He's won her a wall full of ribbons and trophies.
Best of all, he's a fun horse who's a delight to be around. He's naturally curious and playful. I've seen my daughter ride him in a pasture with loose, unknown horses (not recommended) and Buddy didn't do anything when they crowded around him and one bit him on the butt. We chased the other horses away before Buddy reconsidered.
He's not afraid of cows. He was afraid of plastic grocery store bags until he found out they had food in them. He stood quietly while a train rushed past, its horn blasting, when out in the woods on a cub hunt.
He's got great ground manners, clips, loads and stands for the farrier (it's sandy here so we keep him barefoot). He loves a good scratch down the centerline of his neck and between his front legs. Ahhh! He'll follow you around for this -- and for anything else.
He's not for beginners. Great guy though he is, he doesn't understand it if someone is bouncing on his back and balancing on his mouth.
He's got so much character and is so much fun. He's versatile and absolutely charming. He's the horse I never thought I'd sell. But Lily wants to jump higher, do more. She's ready to move on.
So Buddy is for sale.
We're advertising him as a horse, but don't tell him. He thinks he's a golden retriever.

Ohio Rocks has a lot of jumping ability. As you can see from the other jumping video posted at this link, he's fine going to shows and jumping small courses. He's usually well behaved at those places with no refusals. He's gone to a few low-level events and has always placed. He's fun and competitive at the small stuff.
And he's fine at home jumping larger, more demanding combinations, as you can see from the video below. However, he's a homebody when it comes to the bigger stuff. We can't get him to jump consistently away from home if the jumps are higher or have "scary" elements. He'll do most of a course, then stop at one jump.
Maybe we're doing something wrong. Though my daughter is a good rider, she's 14 years old. Maybe you can work out the kinks. We can't. But he looks pretty good at home, doesn't he?

Ohio Rocks is a pro at trailering. He gets on and off with ease. Here's a very short video because when you hop right on, it doesn't take much time.
